I recently replaced my power steering pump since the seals were bad and it was leaking out and spraying the engine compartment with fluid. After replacement with a remanufactured pump it does not leak but whines. I am wondering if there is a filter in the reservoir that would be starving the replaced pump. I can't find a place to just get a reservoir unless I replace the pump again with a dealer pump and reservoir. Could this be the problem or is it something else. Could I have a bad reman. Pump? I did bleed the system of air.

Hi:
What you described is a very common issue with remanufactured pumps. You could try another one, but it will most likely do the same thing. If it's working properly and you can deal with the noise, let it go. However, if you're like me and can't stand to hear things like that, your best chance would be with a new factory pump or try to overhaul your old one.

Sorry I don't have better news.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Joe
