Ok simple as this- I bought a new truck first thing I did was changed the oil, I had a gallon (3.76)quarts jug of new oil! Drained the old oil out, put the new in. So then I put the old oil into the gallon jug and it only filled up to 3 quarts in the jug. So I put 4 quarts of new oil in and the dipstick said it was a quart over! What is going on in this engine? It should hold atleast 4.5 quarts? Any ideas other than sludge?

I have an 01' dodge dakota with the 3.9liter v6 and in the manual it states that the engine only calls for 4.01 quarts. Kinda scary when you thing about how many four cylinder engines out there hold more than that huh.
