At idle the dash board oil pressure gauge shows normal pressure. When I accelerate the oil pressure drops to zero. If I'm driving, the oil pressure is at zero as long as I'm accelerating. When I take my foot off the gas and coast, the gauge shows normal pressure again. What is the most likely cause?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like the oil pump pressure relief valve is sticking-check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge if normal replace the oil pressure switch abnormal oil pump or engine bearings
