Transmission problem
1999 Dodge Dakota 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I just replaced the slave cylinder and followed instructions on how to bleed the cylinder. It said to first release the clips on the rod and pull the rod out. After that fill the cylinder with brake fluid before connecting hose and to hold upright to insure the cylinder is filled. After that connect the line back into the cylinder and remove the cap on the reservoir and push the rod in about 1" and watch the reservoir for air bubbles. Said to pump about 15 times until you see no more bubbles. Did that until it was only pumping fluid back into the reservoir. After that it said to push the rod back in until you were able to reattach the clips. Once the clips were in place it said for us to make sure to line the rod correctly onto the fork inside the transmission and to secure the slave cylinder back into place. Next step is to replace the cap on the reservoir and pump the clutch until the pedal becomes firm again and feels full. It called for about 15 to 20 quick pumps until the pedal got firm. We pumped and pumped and pumped some more and the pedal never gets full or firmer. We have even tried taking it all apart again and redoing everything and it never seems to get a full pedal. Is there something else we can try? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

There isn't a standard bleeding procedure
as the manufacturer recommends replacing the entire hydraulic assembly as a unit.

I found out that it takes patience
make sure that the master is always full and don't allow it to go empty
go to lunch and come back to it
