1998 Dodge Dakota Ram oil pan

We have been working hard to replace the oil pump and we cant get the oil pan off the oil pressure dropped and we changed the oil and checked so we are having so many problems with removing the oil pan any suggestions

On most trucks you need to unbolt the engine mounts, loosen the trannsmission mounts and jack the engine up four or five inches to get the oil pan out to change the oil pump.

You'll probably have to loosen or unbolt a few things around the engine to get that kind of vertical movement. I know the fan shroud gets in the way. After you have the engine jacked up, drop the oil pan, reach up in and unbolt the oil pump and pickup tube, drop them into the pan and pull the pan out. You won't be able to get the pan out unless you first unbolt the oil pump and pickup tube.

Make sure you put a new oil pan gasket on when you put it back together. Good luck. I hope this helps.
