1988 Dodge Dakota engine does not start good

Engine takes a long time to start it has fire to plugs I turned the cap on the distrubitor it seemed to make a little difference but not much do you think timing chain and gear jumped?

Hi there,

thank you for the donation,

By turning the distributor randomly you have compounded your problem, you first need to run a diagnostic scan on the system, if the car has not had a full tune for some time this should also be done, it would be handy to get the ignition KVa readings as well, start with the scan and report back any set fault codes remember that not all codes set a check light off.
