the van has actually been pretty good to me but I am concerned about a noise in the engine. The engine has started sounding like a sewing machine ( best description I can give) it is loud at 1st and does get a little quieter as the engine gets warmer but it does not go away. I have added some fuel system cleaner incase it is deposits on the valves. Do you have any ideas on this.
p.S. This is an awesome site so glad I found it.

What engine do you have? If it is a 4 cyl it is the counter balance shaft. Let me know

That Mitsubishi engine is usually bullet proof. The two things I can think about are the water pump (driven by the cam belt) or the serpintine belt tensioner. Both have been known to have a noise problem.

If it is the water pump, FIX IT SOON!

Let me know
