I have a 1999 dodge grand caravan se 109000 miles. My service engine light is on steady, code 401 egr fault. The airbag light comes on intermittently then will go out, when lit the horn will not work. I had the fault code read while the airbag light was on and it showed no fault except EGR fault. The van runs fine no matter what light is on/

The horn and air bag light is caused by a bad clock spring assembly between the steering wheel and the column.

It will not pass any emissions test with a bad EGR valve so have it replaced or repaired. Good luck

Anyone know how difficult it is to change the clock spring or how expensive it is to replace one? It looks rather difficult from the repair manual.

There is a recall on the clockspring for your van. Call a dealership and go there, it should be free, then you will have a one year warrenty if it happens again. Hope this helped. Vandragon
