When it is cold outside my Dodge Grand Caravan makes a loud noise. The noise usually stops after about 10 minutes of driving. Sometimes it sounds like the power steering fluid is low because it also makes a noise when the wheel is being turned. How can I be sure that it is not my transmission or a power train problem. Please advise. One of the noises usually stops after driving for a few minutes, but the power steering sound could happend when it isn't cold outside. I take the van in for regually scheduled oil changes and the say the are checking the fluid levels and doing a 23 pt. inspection, yet I am still hearing these noises.

We need you to physically look under the hood on the passenger side and check the power steering reservoir making sure that it is full. A lot of time, when it is extremely cold, the power steering will groan a bit until the engine is warmed up.

It is also possible that the noise that you are hearing is the drive belt in the cold. That will do that too. The next time you have the vehicle in for service, have them check the belt as well.
