I am replacing my rack and pinion and took the old one out with not problem, but I cant get the new one in, it will not fit, as if it is longer than theold one that I took out. Any suggestions?

Check and see if your new rack came with new outter tie rod ends, if this is the case you can remove them and gain a little more room

What I meant was the steering column shaft is longer than the old one. Therefore, it is now closer to the floor panel than the old one was and the steering column would not attach to the steering column shaft. We tried a 2004 and 2005 model part and they both were the same way. I had to cut the floor panel away from the shaft to get the steering column attached.
Thanks!
