MY ENGINE IS MAKING A TICKING NOISE AND WHEN I ACCELERATE THE NOISE TICKS FASTER I KNOW I NEED A TUNE-UP BUT COULD THIS POSSIBLY BE THE REASON ITS MAKING THE NOISE.

Hi:

The ticking noise is most likely coming from the valves / lifters. Make sure the oil is full in the engine and when you change it, make sure you use a quality filter.

As far as the tune-up, most likely it has nothing to do with the ticking.

I have the same problem, oil service was done by the dealer but I still have that ticking noise. Please advise. Thanks

No lights on. The van drives ok but that noise around the top of the engine is telling me that something is not right and I would like to fix it before it gets worst. Thanks

Well out of my Haynes Manual -Troubleshooting section.

PINGING OR KNOCKING SOUNDS DURING ACCELERATION OR UPHILL

. Incorrect grade (octane) of fuel
2. Fuel injection system faulty
3. Improper or damage spark plugs or wires
4. Faulty or incorrect thermostat.
5. Low coolent levels
6. Knock sensor system faulty
7. Vacuum leak
8. EGR system not functioning properly
9. Malfunctioning engine control sytem.

Man what a can of worms. Some of this stuff I didnt even know about causing knocking.
