I changed valve cover gaskets and discovered oil sludge in the cam and valve head assembly. Engine run well

Should I attempt to "flush" the engine or use a special high detergent oil or just keep changing oil and not worry about the sludgedge?

Change it every 3000 miles with some good detergent oil. It worked fine for me many times and trying to break it up is just going to clog an already suspect oil pump pick-up screen. Clean out as many pieces off the valve cover and keep changing the oil. You'll hear other opinions, this is what has worked for me, more than once.
