I own a 2001 caravan with 147,000 miles. While driving down the interstate I felt a big shudder and then a few miles later lost all power to the wheels. The engine seems to work fine but could not get any power to the wheels. I turned the van off for 5 and then back on and could drive until I reached 10mph and then van would shudder again and loose power to wheels but not engine. Checked power steering, oil and radiator levels and all seemed fine. Any ideas?

Hi there,

I would be thinking that the transmission has suffered failure, how dose the trans oil look? Burnt or clean and red, dose it smell? Best get a transmission specialist to do a test and report on this problem.

This may be a pump failure or a problem with in the torque converter, I would be getting it checked by a trans specialist asap.
