I just had the timing chain replace along with repairing heads (2 bad valves). The mech told me that 2 valves were damaged when the timing broke- I had the original timing chain replaced a 99,000. This one lasted only 65,000 miles. The mech replaced the timing chain, gears, spark plugs, spark lines, and used a gasket kit (heads, exhaust, intake.)

When the mech put the motor back together, it ran rough, the idle would jump up and down. When you put the car in drive, it would idle and drive, but the pick up was very slow. Since then he has replaced the EGR and cleaned the throttle body, and replaced pcv valve and disconeted the battery to rest the computer.
He said he has done several "smoke " tests to see if there were any vacuum leaks -none-. The car is not giving up any codes. The car's idle has gotten better-but the idle still jumps around and is still slow, sluggish, ( not sputtering )when starting up at a traffic light. If you push on the gas pedal, the car hesitates for a moment then down shifts to pick up speed. Needless to say the car didn't act this way before the timing chain broke -any ideas?

10/4- did compression check, fuel line pressure check, and replaced the map sensor- no change
