Please help. I have a very reliable van and suddenly having problems. About 5 times in the last 2 months it won't start. The first was after gasing it up and after a jump all was fine. The 3rd time I replaced the battery and all was fine. About 2 weeks later it wouldn't start after a jump but after resting for about an hour it started. Today it has happened again and no start after jumping/resting. I start the car and the top row of lights on the dash board come on but not the lower. The engine starts for 5 secs then stops. Now it won't start at all but just the top row of lights on the dash come on. Do you have any idea what it might be? Thanks in advance.

Hello
Thanks for the donation

First off I do apologize for the lengty wait period for a response. We are quiet busy here at 2CarPros :)

Is your vehicle equipped with any kind of anti-theft device? Any anti-thef warning lights (usually red? ) Flashing or staying on when you try to start or when key is out? You may want to have the alternator and battery tested just to ensure it is not a fault with your vehicle's charging system. Most local part stores do this free of charge (on or off of vehicle).

Thanks for using 2CarPros. Com!
