1997 Dodge Caravan Is it worth repairing transmission?

My van is 12 years old and has 248000 miles on its original Mitsubishi engine. Should I invest into a transmission repair that will cost me at least $1400?

In my opinion it all depends, can you afford to get a new vehicle, or is the 1400 the only money you'll be able to accumulate? Me personally I would trade it in if I could or part it out and get myself a new vehicle(if I could afford to get a new one)
