1997 Dodge Caravan Closed Door Sensor

1997 Dodge Caravan Front Wheel Drive Automatic 170000 miles

Door ajar light and alarm as well as interior lights go on and off while driving. All doors are securely closed.

Of course it could be any of the door ajar switches that are mounted on each door opening but it is the sliding door we had the most problems with because of its use and the way it is set up. Try closing the sliding door along with all the doors and pushing each door as you sit inside the van. If pushing a door turns the dome lamp on then that switch must be replaced. Sometimes you have this problem if the sliding door is not adjusted to close tight enough but a 97 probably needs the switch. After you replace it, the first close of the sliding door adjusts it. It is self-adjusting. Hope this helps you some. Good luck. Like I said it could be any switch at any of the doors but it is usually the sliding door.
