I own the above car and have already put nearly $2,000 in repairs. The mechanic said I need new brakes and roters plus a front axle.
I have only SS for income and no savings.
How urgent is it that I repair it. I drive areound 1,000 miles a year. Just to the store or doctor and home.
How important is it that I sould fix all or part. The brakes begin to makes squelling sounds after a number of in town stops.

UPDATE: I took the car over to be fixed and the mechanic told me my brakes are just fine. 10/13/09

If there's no pulsation in the brakes and you're not hearing any clicking from the wheels on turns or other axle symptoms, and the brake pads are worn, as the squeaking suggests, you could perhaps get by with just replacing brake pads, which should keep the job under $200.
