1998 Dodge Avenger Alternator

I am currently trying to figure out where my alternator is located at and how to change it. Because when I start my car everything is fine but a little ways down the road my battery light will come on then my check engine light. So I am also curious if that is the true problem

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
