I have an 85 Dodge Aries I replace the alternator and battery when driving car ran hot and cut off.

Depending on the size of your engine, there may be a fuse or fusible link that burned, or the water pump belt may bhave come off. It could have loosened up or not been adjusted. Either one would cause both types of problems. Which engine, 2.2L or 2.6L?
