My car dashboard shakes when at a stop. But when my air conditioner is on and I come to stop it doesn't shake at all. Why is that?

This happens when the engine and transmission mounts go out. Can I ask if the engine seems to be running okay? Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so I can tell for sure what's going on? You can upload it here with your response. Here are the engine mounts which are probably the problem.

Hi,

The engine idle speed should stay right around 650 RPMs. See pic below. Check to see if that is the case when the vehicle is stopped, running, and the A/C is off.

These vehicles control the idle speed based on need. When you turn the A/C on, the engine control module compensates by adding air to the system, thus not allowing the idle to drop below a specified RPM With the added load. In this case, it sounds like that is happening. However, without the A/C on, there isn't enough air getting into the engine causing the RPMs to drop.

If that is the case, the first thing I suggest is to clean the throttle body.

Here is a link that explains how that is done:

Let me know about the engine speed and if it is low.

Take care,

Joe
