I'm replacing driver side CV axle. The retaining clip that holds it in the trans-axle didn't pop out and I pulled shaft that's attached and runs into the trans-axle out some. I don't know how the get CV axle separated from this shaft without pulling this shaft all the way out with it. Is it okay to pull this shaft all the way out? I know your not supposed to do both axles at once cause removing both at same time allows gears to fall in and trans-axle overhaul will result. But I don't know the inner working at all to know if I did damage by shaft coming along with CV axle. Am I in trans-axle trouble?

Good afternoon,

Can you post a picture of what you see so I can see what you are up against?

It looks like the axle is released?

Do you have the outer parts disconnected as well and enough room to remove the axle?

Yes, it released but from where I do not know. It wants to come out with ease. But shaft that axle connects to inside trans-axle is coming with it. I withdrew it about five to six inches but stopped because I'm worried about any gears or whatever in there getting misaligned or falling.
