Crysler Sebring convortable touring engine knock

I have a 2006 Chrysler sebring convertible 2.7l v6 that has started making a knocking sound but no check engine lights or oil pressure lights have come on I changed to oil to see if that would help and some kind of goo or sludge came out in the old oil but the car is still making the sound

2.7 is a known junk motor. Try pulling plug wires one at a time to see if noise goes away if it does then it the cylinder that is the offensive one an dit may be a rod bearing or piston problem or have a pro diagnose it.
