Hi.

I have a 1999 Acura 2.3 CL with 222K miles and have spent lots of money on this car over the past few years and not in a position to get another car at the moment.

For the past 4 months my cruise control was working intermittently, but now not. Today I noticed that the horn was not working either. Yikes! Looked at some possible reasons for this problem on line and one was a pinched wiring harness or bad cable reel. I don't want to get ripped off to get fixed, so what is your best guess of other potential issues and what it will cost to get fixed!

I am bringing it to one place tomorrow to get a diagnosis and an estimate.

Broke in San Jose!

Thank you in advance for your quick repsonse!

Check fuse #30 it protects the HORN circuit.
Also check the fuse for the cruise control (check both the interior and underhood fuse boxes)

Why do you assume you're going to be ripped off? Most mechanics want to get your car fixed right the first time, just like you do.

The most common and logical suspect is the clock spring. That is a wound-up ribbon cable in a plastic housing under the steering wheel. The horn, cruise control, and air bag have circuits going through it. As that cable continues to break, eventually the air bag light will turn on too and the system will be disabled.
