Where is the Crankshaft Position Sensor located?

The engine cranks no run. Code P0420. 50 PSI fuel rail. Brand new AC Delco plugs and coil pack. I was told to change the crank sensor but cannot locate it. Please help.

Hi,

The crankshaft position sensor is located between the starter motor and transmission. You will need to remove the splash shield under the engine compartment to access it.

Since your vehicle is a 2wd, that makes this job much easier. Take a look at the picture and directions below for replacing it.

Next, the code you have, P0420, is specific to a failing catalytic converter. This can be an expensive repair, but it should still be under factory warranty. The catalytic converter is covered for 8 years or 80K miles, so contact a dealer regarding this code. See the last pic below.
