Decided to install a new distributor. It is very difficult to remove or replace the distributor cap. It has 3 Philips head screws that are a bear to access. Cap must be off to get proper clocking of rotor.
Am I missing something here? This is a nightmare getting the cap on or off.
Any words of wisdom to make this less difficult would be appreciated.

Hi,

You will need to remove the valve cover to properly reinstall the distributor. It has been a while, but I do remember the cap being a pain.

Take a look at the pictures below, they are the directions for removing and reinstalling the distributor. When you reinstall it, it is done with the valve cover off and that is when it is aligned.

Take a look at the directions and let me know if they help.

Take care,

Joe
