When I unplug the crankshaft position sensor without completely removing it there is oil all over and in it where the plug in goes, is that normal?

Hi,

The sensor, which is behind the starter motor, is mounted inside the engine block so oil on it would be normal. However, I'm not sure why you would have oil in the connector.

If you clean and dry it, does it get wet right away once the engine is started? Are there any leaks from above the sensor such as the valve cover gasket?

Let me know. Also, I attached a pic below showing the sensor's location. Is that the one you are referring to? Are there drivability issues?

Let me know.

Joe
