After replacing the Crankshaft position sensor, it is slightly misfiring occasionally and hesitates under load?

Hi, I got a code for crankshaft position sensor, so I replaced it with an OEM from Chrysler dealership. I have a scanner with the relearn tool went through the process and now the vehicle has the same symptoms of the bad crank sensor but with no codes it slightly misfiring occasionally and hesitates under load. Also, if I look at live data on my scanner it says my crank is out of sync and my cams are in sync. I’m at a loss at this point. I'm not sure if I should tear this thing down and replace the timing chain but will be really upset if the chain is not bad. I don’t know if the computer just didn’t pick up the relearn process. Any suggestions would be great.
Thank you, Glenn

Hi Glenn,

The crank and cams being out of sync will be the problem, I would make sure the oil is clean and full, if not change the oil and filter and clear the codes. Can you please give me the code numbers?

At 184k on the engine you don't need to worry about the timing chains not being bad, there probably are. I would change out the guides and camshaft actuators as well. Once I get the codes number I will know more.

After replacing the CPS sensor there are no codes, but the cams are in sync and the crank is out of sync. I’m wondering if maybe a chain tensioner is broken.

That is very possible. Did you get a chance to find the code numbers?
