I had brought in my vehicle into the shop for an oil change and for them to swap out my thermostat. Ever since I pulled it out of the shop it was idling low it calms down when I take off it takes a second to catch up to the right gear. I ended up noticing I took off the face plate of the header on the intake manifold and there is a crack right in the middle of the header. It was not like that until after I had gotten it out of the shop and noticed that there was no coolant in the reservoir. I had put a whole jug of coolant in the reservoir by the next day the reservoir was bone dry. Then I had put half a jug of coolant into the reservoir which topped it off and the coolant level has stayed. Could this have been a I thought the problem the shop caused. For a quick fix temporary solution would J-B weld be a good idea as a temporary solution until I can replace it?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

I have attached a picture of the thermostat and the housing it mounts in for you to see. Is the crank near this component? Also, is it possible for you to take a picture of the crack so I know exactly what you are dealing with? I would rather not recommend JB Weld if it is something that can lead to more damage. I hope you understand. If you could upload the picture, it would really help.

Let me know.

Joe

This is what I found when I went to change my 02 censor. Also wondering about another part that is below the battery on the right side. I noticed loose hosing and a y shape split hosing that looks like the loose hosing might go in there but the split hosing part is wedged under another part. Before I take it apart and connect those two parts I'd like to know if I am right and need to connect them. The second picture is sideways sorry. Not the orange house connected to the y split but the smaller off gray colored that is wedged is what I would like to know if it needs to connect to the loose house.
Thank you

Welcome back:

The exhaust manifold is definitely cracked. You could try JB weld for exhausts, but I don't know how long or if it will work.

As far as picture two, it's hard to tell what I'm looking at in the picture. It may be related to the PCV. If you follow one of the hoses, where does it lead?

Let me know.

Joe
