I started smelling a rotten egg smell, (did not know it was coming from my car until I had already been driving for a total of six hours today). When I popped off the cover to the battery, steam was coming out of a hole in the battery (do not know if that whole is supposed to be there or not), now my battery is dead. No lights came on and I just got a high mileage oil change about a month ago. Do I have a bad battery? I did not hit anything, I am just very confused.

Hello, I am Danny.

Yes, It sound like you have a bad cell in the battery. Some batteries are completely sealed and other styles are vented and have service caps. If you remove the battery from your car you can take it to your local auto parts store (PepBoys,Autozone,O'Reillys) and they will test it for free. I have attached a link for you showing how to replace your battery. Hope this helps and feel free to ask any other questions. Thanks for using 2CarPros.

Someone said that it sounded like I had a slow burn in one of the cables. I see that you are an expert so I am going to take your expert opinion! Thank you!
