I have heard two conflicting methods for tightening my ratcheting wheel hub nut. One of them says to have some one else spin the rotor while I tighten the nut to 70 ft lbs, back it off 90 degrees and re-tighten to 20 ft lbs. The second method I've heard is to tighten the ratcheting nut to where the rotor assembly can't move horizontally but not to torque it down.

Hi Karen,

The proper process is attached. It is different if you have a Dana 44. However, the first process is correct. The second process works but this is very subjective which is why Ford says to do it by torquing the nut.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks
