Hello,

The engine has a coolant temperature sensor (ECT) and a cylinder head temperature sensor. The ECT is at the rear of the engine and the CHT sensor is mounted on the cylinder head and under the intake manifold
Picture 1 shows locations for both. However, most of these only have a CHT sensor. Picture 2 gives you a better view of the CHT location.

Although, the picture you are using as a ref. is not an ecoboost motor, as for it doesn't have turbos in place.

Again, looking at the ref. picture, I don't see any ECT mount on rear of the engine. The 2 sensors indicated on rear of both heads, are the intake and exhaust cam pos. sensors. Can you very your stated ECT location?

Hello,

Looking at the wiring diagram for the cooling system it appears that the cylinder head temperature sensor is used.
