It would appear that the coolant temperature sensor is in a different location for 2017 - 2020 GMC Acadia V6s than it was prior to 2017. Can you offer information as to its location?

Hi,

I have attached a pic below showing the location. I highlighted it for you. The directions require the removal of the coolant thermostat housing and inlet removal.

Pics 1 and 2 show location and directions.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

Hello, my vehicle is having an issue where the temperature gauge drops to zero even after driving highway speeds for a long time. It says the power steering is reduced and to drive with caution and will not let the A/C blow cold air. The fan works but will blow air at whatever temperature is outside. After searching forums for similar issues, it seems a faulty coolant temperature. Sensor may be the issue. I have purchased one but have not been able to find where the sensor is located. Is there a diagram or something that can help me pinpoint the location of the sensor? Thank you

Hi,

It is partially under the intake manifold. See pic 1.

According to the manual, here is what needs to be done.

______________________________________

1) Drain the cooling system.

The drain is on the bottom of the radiator. See pic 2

2) Remove the thermostat housing inlet pipe

See pic 3

3) Remove the thermostat housing.

It is held on by two bolts. See pic 4

______________________________________

Reverse the procedure for installation.

Note: Make sure to replace gaskets and or o rings.

Thank you very much. I had a feeling that was the sensor but it is so reassuring to have verification from a professional. You have been very helpful.
