Coolant temperature reaches 221 f?

When I am driving more than an hour, the coolant temperature reaches 221 f and back to 206 F after a few seconds. My question is, is this normal or overheating? There are no leaks of coolant and no check engine light. Thanks.

Are you getting these reading from a scanner or? It seems normal to me. If it is overheating this would be okay. CAN I ask if you hear the cooling fans come on then go off? If so I would run it.

Yes, the reading came from my scanner with the unit in Fahrenheit. And thanks for your reply. The radiator fan was replaced already but the reading still goes to 221 F. The mechanic from the auto service center said that the reading is normal if it goes over 1 F
and back to 204 F when the fan kicks in. I would appreciate if you can comment or add something for my reference. Thanks a lot.

Np, yes this reading are normal, for every 2 pounds if pressure which is inside the cooling system you gain 1 degree higher in boiling point temperature, the system hold 18 pounds.

Coolant is typically between 223°F (106°C) and 270°F (132°C)

+9 degrees when under pressure :)
