Coolant reservoir tank replacement

I need to replace the coolant overflow tank on my vehicle. I have the replacement, but the original tank is stuck in place (I assume it's melted in there maybe?) It's the original 2004 tank so it's definitely time to replace it.

My question is, how do I get it out if it's stuck like that? I can't find any online videos with tutorials for this specific make/model of coolant reservoir tank (it's a pretty small tank compared to modern ones now) and only has a hold coming in the top of the tank. Nothing else holding it down like bolts or excess tubing. Please help

Hi,

The reservoir slides into a mount. I attached a pic below. Remove the cap so you can get a finger in it and then wiggle it while pulling up. It should slide out of the mount.

Hi Joe, thanks for the response. Yes, that’s what my current tank and new replacement look like.

I tried removing the cap and using a finger to try to grip the tank off the mount, but it is stuck pretty good to the mount so that’s what I’m having trouble with at the moment. I don’t have lubricant or oil but I applied a thin layer of petroleum jelly, which still didn’t help it budge.

If you wiggle it side to side, it should loosen. If it doesn't, try to get your hands on something like WD40 or some penetrating oil. That should help.
