Had new steering pump fitted, but error code"power assist failure" still on dashboard display. How do I delete/reset myself without help from main dealer?

A mechanic has to use his scanner to remove those auto parts cannot or a dealer can.

Cannot quite understand this message. Are you saying that only a mechanic at the main dealer can remove this message from the display? Jim

A mechanic at a local garage or dealer is what is meant to be said. It does not need to go to a dealer, just tell him what you have done, but if it comes back after it was erased the pump was not the problem.
