The person I purchased this car from said that he had the clutch replaced two years ago by "a friend". After six months of driving the clutch went out and he parked it. I got it running and found that there is no clutch grab what so ever. When I put it in "gear" and release the clutch pedal, the idle rpms do not even drop. Then I shifted through every gear without using the pedal and did not feel or hear any grinding.

It sounds like a clutch bad but put in gear and start see if it moves if it does it is a hydraulic issue be careful though with nothing around you.

It has a safety switch so I cannot start it without pressing down on the clutch pedal.

If you still have good pedal pressure I would say the clutch has l failed. It may have lost all the linings or blown out the hub. Pull the gearbox and start with inspecting the clutch.
