When driving over a small bump there is a clunking sound?

I have a 1986 Grand National. This car is only driven in good weather and not in the winter. Last year when I would go over a small bump, I would hear a clunking sound as the summer went on the clunking sound happened more often. Someone told me there might be something loose in the dashboard, but I don't think so. We live in a very rural area so there are not many people to take the car to. Hope you might be able to give me some help as I don't want it to get worse.

It sounds like it could be a strut or shock, can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so I can hear the noise? That way I can tell for sure what's going on. You can upload it here with your response. It is difficult to tell without some kind of sounds to associate the problem too.

No problem, is the noise coming from the front or rear of the car? I would say it could be a sway bar mount or a bad shock. You should check it out though so nothing bad happens while driving.

The noise is coming from the front on the passenger side. It does not happen all the time, but it is just a small bump on the road.

Yep, I would check the struts and sway bar mount and links.
