Clunk noise

When I first start driving, I hear and feel a slight clunk sound at 12 mph. After the first one, no more until the next time I take it out of the garage.

Where do you feel this, in the gas pedal, in the seat, or steering wheel, or something else?

Is there a way to get a recording of it? The only thing I can think is a possible transmission clunk that is just a component inside is seating and does not unseat until the pressure is removed from it by shutting the engine off.

Is there anything special to when you pull out of the garage? Meaning, do you coast down a long driveway or not have any accelerator input until you hit 12 MPH?

I think your last question described it. It only does it once until my next outing. Otherwise I can go all day after the clunk. It's on the left side.

Okay. So when you pull out of the garage in the morning, pay attention to if you have no accelerator input or brake input. Or do you back out of the garage and put it in drive with no input of one or the other? Basically just take notice of your normal habit when it does it and what leads up to it. Then we are going to try to do it differently and see if that makes any difference.

No transmission problems apparent and it only does that clunk once at 12 mph and nothing after that first acceleration. Basically if I pull out of my garage to go somewhere, every time I wait for my car to "strike 12". After that it's free of any noises.

I understand. What I am suggesting is that when you are hitting 12 MPH it is shifting or engaging a specific clutch. So when you pull out of the garage next time, try accelerating a little harder past 12 MPH and see if it still does it. Then try accelerating very slowly past 12 MPH and see if it makes the noise.

I am not suggesting that you have transmission issues. I am thinking that the transmission is clunking on this specific road/driveway with doing your normal routine. So if we change your normal routine and it doesn't do it then we probably have what is called a characteristic of this vehicle.
