First off, I love my Jeep. With the recent snow I really miss the 4 wheel drive. And thats in under statement. On a flat city street under no engine duress whatsoever, my Comanche stalled at 30 miles an hour. I thought to myself that's new. I coasted in neutral and tried to restart. The second try to restart the starter did not disengage. Killed ignition, call buddy for toe.I replaced the ignition module in the power distributor Center d negative ground to the block and positive terminal on the battery. Frustrated, I used the screwdriver technique on my solenoid and it did start which made mevery happy. Then I noticed smoke in the smell of burning plasticwhich appear to be coming from the solenoid. Thinking that maybe the burned fusable links I have replaced cause damage to that, I replaced the solinoid as well. Still nothing with the key but a single click.I tried the screwdriver yet again, fire right up yet again more smoke more burning plastics smell. I see now the smoke is coming from the multi wired connection at the rear of the motor in front of the firewall. Any ideas to save me some time checking every single wire for a short?

Only way to check it is to pull the tape off of harness and physically check the wires it should be to hard to find it. You can specifically look for the wires i' have pointed out in pic.
