This only happens occasionally. When I accelerate there is a clicking noise what I can only describe sounds like a hammer hitting something, but once I speed up enough it stops and it doesn’t click when I slow down only when I accelerate sometimes which confuses me. At first, I thought it was like a loose mudflap, but then I saw that it was not. I can’t see anything hanging down. It’s just the click happens every day but not every time I accelerate.

The description sounds like it could be a loose brake caliper. When you accelerate it rotates enough to hit the inside of the wheel and knocks. That or a bad parking brake shoe that is catching and hammering. The only way to tell for sure would be to remove the wheels on the rear and inspect the brakes and associated items to see if you can find the issue.

Thanks for this. Mechanic said that it was the parking break that was tearing apart.

That would fit. That uses a drum in hat design and unless you use it religiously they tend to rot away rather than wear out. Because of the design if the return spring(s) rust away the shoe can fall open and hit the drum. If the drum is rusty it can grab the shoe and try to wrap it around internally. That would be the noise you were hearing.
