What is the difference between the rack and pinion and the axle on this vehicle.

Hi there,

The rack & pinion is the steering device that transmits the rotation of the steering wheel into the turning of the wheels L to R, an axle is the item that transmits the drive to the wheels from the differential/ final drive unit, they can also be know as drive shafts in front wheel drive cars.
