Every morning my van will make the following noise:
rruupp! For about ten seconds and then goes away. Sometimes, if it sets for a long period of time during the day the name noise will come back when started. I checked all fluids and they are ok. The power sterring is fine. Why does this noise happen at a cold start up?

I don't know why without actually hearing it. But there is a service bulletin on the power steering pump moan/groan noise at start up when cold. They say it is from using the wrong fluid. If that is case then buy a cheap turkey baster and remove the old fluid from the pump and replace it with ATF+4 and see if that fixes it.

Bill - I know the noise your talking about. I have had my starter checked as well as the alternator by my local garage. So far nobody has figured out what the problem is. If you get any successful in please post your findings. Thanks.
