Engine Cooling problem
2001 Chrysler Town and Country 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 160K miles

I Replaced my AC Clutch- No issue- AC I believe was working fine-can;t be positive-car sat for 3-4 months over the winter-
AC not working - blowing only warm air.
Checked refrigerant with a can/ needle gauge from O'Reilly's
Gauge has four indicators- low, OK, yellow alert and Red alert, mine was in the highest red -- I did not add refrigerant at that point--

Checked AC Clutch- not engaging--the engine RPM's jump up when I turn the AC on - I assume the compressor is engaging. I burnished the Clutch again as instructed- nothing.

Direction to help solve would be most apppreciated.

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

I would be thinking the the system may be over charged and running with a very high pressure, this can trip a high pressure switch which will shut power off to the comp, adding refrigerant by can is a very hit and miss approach, the system is designed to run with a specific charge rate of gas, adding by can can seriously over fill the system, I would have the system evacuated of gas, vacuumed down and re charged with the correct weight of refrigerant.
