When we go to start the engine it will click one time and not turn over. Then after several times of doing that it will eventually start. Makes me think there is a short in a connection. Or could it be the starter? Once it makes the connection it turns on with no problem. It also seems like if we have been driving it for awhile it will start easier than if it sits all night. Hope you can help us.

Hi, I'd make sure the battery has a full charge and the battery connections are clean, When the problem occurs, I'd check the voltage circuits at the starter relay, in the power distribution center, under the hood. Voltage to the load side of relay, is hot all the time. Voltage to the coil side of relay, goes hot with the key in the start position. You can use a testlite on it. Any testing at relay, make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and the e-brake is set.

The coil side of starter relay is grounded by the pcm, the theft/security system would also be something to think about.
