Procedure to replace fan

The electric cooling fan assembly cannot be disassembled. If the fan is warped, cracked or otherwise damaged, it must be replaced as an assembly.

REMOVAL:

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Raise and safely support the vehicle.
Remove the radiator outlet hose from the radiator hose retaining clip and remove the retaining clip from the shroud.
If equipped, remove the lower auxiliary transaxle cooler lines from the retaining clips on the cooling fan module shroud.
Lower the vehicle.
Remove the entire air cleaner assembly and the air intake resonator.
Disconnect the fan motor electrical connector(s).
Remove the Coolant Recovery System (CRS) mounting screw from the upper radiator crossmember.
Disconnect the mounts to the upper radiator from the radiator crossmember.
Remove the upper radiator crossmember.
Remove the cooling fan module mounting screws.
If equipped, remove the upper auxiliary transaxle cooler lines from the retaining clips on the cooling fan module shroud.
Disconnect and plug the transaxle oil cooler line from the radiator fitting on the lower left side.
Raise and safely support the vehicle.
Remove the filter/drier, cooling fan module and radiator mounting bolts located on the lower right of the cooling fan module.
Lower the vehicle. Remove the upper cooling fan module-to-radiator retaining clips.
Remove the cooling fan module from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION:

Install the cooling fan module assembly into the retaining clips of the radiator.
Install the upper cooling fan module-to-radiator retaining clips.
Raise and safely support the vehicle.
Install the filter/drier, cooling fan module and radiator mounting bolts located on the lower right of the cooling fan module.
Lower the vehicle. Reconnect the transaxle cooler line to the radiator fitting on the lower left side.
If equipped, install the upper auxiliary transaxle cooler lines to the retaining clips on the cooling fan module shroud.
Install the cooling fan module retaining screws and torque to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
Install the entire air cleaner assembly.
Install the upper radiator crossmember and connect the upper radiator mounts to the crossmember. Torque the mounting fasteners to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
Install the Coolant Recovery System (CRS) mounting screw to the upper radiator crossmember. Torque the mounting screw to 18 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
Reconnect the fan motor electrical connector.
Install the air intake resonator to the air cleaner assembly.
Raise and safely support the vehicle.
If equipped, install the lower auxiliary transaxle cooler lines to the retaining clips on the cooling fan module shroud.
Install the radiator outlet hose retainer clip to the fan module shroud.
Install the radiator outlet hose to the retaining clip. Lower the vehicle.
Reconnect the negative battery cable. Run the engine and check for proper cooling fan operation when the engine reaches operating temperature.
