Shakes or Wobbles problem
1999 Chrysler Town and Country 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Why is the rear of my minvan shaking/vibrating and the rear tires wearing on the inside edge on both sides of the vehicle? I've had it in for alignment, new shocks and tire balance and nothing has helped. Could it be the wheel bearings?

Hi:
Has anyone checked the wheel bearings / spindels?

Yes, I just checked the bearings/spindels yesterday evening and they seem to be ok. I noticed some kind of plastic shims which were installed and looked worn. I'm assuming the shims are for the alignment and NTB just did not bother checking or adjusting/replacing these shims when they supposedly did the 4-wheel alignment. I've had it in other shops as well and the problem still persists. I think Firestone installed these shims about 6 yrs ago so they have not been replaced or adjusted since then.

Hi:
You may want to have them relaced. They could be the cause of the tire wear. If there is excess play as a result of the plastic shims, that may be your wobble.

Let me know what they say.
