1997 Chrysler Town and Country new water pump

Why would my van over head after I replaced the water pump and filled the radiator? Also its not throwing any heat

Its still low on coolant
fill radiator and place cap on run until heat up
shut engine off let it cool and open radiator cap and fill again
start engine top off coolant place heat on

need manual CHECK IT @
