1997 Chrysler Sebring Won't Start Properly

I recently had the ignition switch replaced on my 1997 Chrysler Sebring Convertible (V8 with 110,000 miles). This fixed the problem of not starting at all, but now I must go through this ridiculous ritual of locking the car with the key from the outside then removing the key, reinserting the key to unlock and then trying to start it again. I typically have to do this 3-4 times before the car will start.

The vehicle came with two "keys" (?) For the Silencer Security System and I am wondering if the anti-theft system has a glitch.

Help! I'm a single mom and dealerships are telling me it's a computer issue which translates into several hundred dollars.

Thanks so much for any assistance.

Heres a few things to look at, Are both of youre cars keys orginal dealer keys, Or have they been recut, Sometimes keys that are cut from walmart / or other places, Have cheap metal, In which some keys have a magnetic current that tells the theft system thats, The right key is beening used, Also youre key cyl contacts could be wornout out. Anti theft could have a glitch.

Thank you so much for the tips. Unfortunately the car left myself and my 10 year old stranded again. For the last time! I towed it to a dealer and traded it in today. It's too bad because it's a nice little car, but I need something that won't keep me guessing - that's what the 10 year old is for.

Thanks again and take care.
