1997 Chrysler Sebring key wont remove

My 1997 sebring convertable key will not dislodge from the steering column. It stays in an on position and causes the battery to lose power. Does anyone have an idea as to what might cause this? The car is in park but the steering wheel won't lock.

Move the wheel back and forth and try to turn the key off at the same time. Some cars the wheel has to be straight when you park the car or the key jams up. Make sure your wheels are straight.
